My wonderfully wide-eyed friend, Krishna, and I went on trip together to see the Canadian Rockies in the fall of 2019. The region was abundant with glaciated peaks, wild mushrooms, and poutine! I can still smell the distinct pine-scented alpine air and hear the clank of the bear spray canister against my pack.

At a certain point, I was unsure of whether to direct my gaze upward to the soaring peaks or downward to the carpets of mushrooms brightening the forest floor.

I like to think this moose was gathering wildflowers to weave a crown for herself. She was spotted roadside near Maligne Lake in the morning.

The colorful Transcanadian railway runs through Jasper. Shortly after this photo was taken, we picked up a German hitchhiker who had been trekking through the backcountry while hitchhiking for a couple of months. We asked him what he missed most about home. The answer — his dog.
